Dear WINO's---here's the basic info on next month's
holiday celebration.
Please peruse it with care, but do not respond until you
have received a
personalized follow-up e-mail (should arrive within the
hour)informing you
of the specific cost for you personally, since the
individual cost will vary
somewhat, as explained below. Thanks.
We look forward to seeing you on the
13th!---RodRitaDennisOlga
10:00 am--meet at the "castle" of Ledson
Winery, 7335 Sonoma Hwy. (State
Route 12), in Kenwood.
11:00 am--on to Kaz & Bodega Port Works, 233 Adobe
Canyon Rd. (just off
Rte.12), in Kenwood; a barn, not a castle, where Kaz's
winemaker-daughter
will introduce us to their numerous red varietals, as
well as port from
their port works.
12:00 noon---a binary winery! (2 for 1--such a deal...) Muscardini and Ty
Caton Wineries, 8910 Sonoma Hwy. (SR12), Kenwood; the
former with
award-winning sangiovese and syrah, the latter with his
signature "Titanium"
red blend. Added
bonus--this last stop is merely steps away from our lunch
destination:
1:00 pm--lunch at Doce Lunas (12 Moons), also 8910 Sonoma
Hwy. Dining
family style at a big farm table or two from a pre-set
menu: Spinach Salad
with Crab cakes; Pasta Primavera; Greek Crispy Chicken;
Korean Beef Ribs
(Rita swears by these); their famous Sticky Pudding for
dessert (Dennis'
favorite). You may
order lunch wine from their wine list; if you bring your
own, corkage is $10 a pop.
While the overall per person cost of this event is $61 a
head, no WINO will
be charged the full amount. As in past years with Nancy, the accumulated
surplus in the WINO coffers will be used to offset the
cost of the day
(tastings and lunch), with cost reductions personalized
based on the details
of one's WINO participation during 2008; even if you were
unable to attend
any events this year, the mere fact of your membership
warrants an initial
reduction; since different events produced varying
surpluses, your eventual
discount has been computed by our Math Guru (BA Summa Cum
Laude, NDEA
Graduate Fellow at UCD, nearly 4 decades as a math
pedagogue, and very
ornery when challenged) via arcane formulae on as
equitably a prorated basis
as possible.
(You're welcome!) So watch for
that upcoming e-mail with your
cost info, and only then get your paid reservation in
pronto.
OTHER IMPORTANT STUFF:
as always, first come, first served (we'll have an
absolute maximum of 40 seats at lunch). The usual two reservations allowed
per WINO household membership; beyond that, NO GUEST
RESERVATIONS PERMITTED
AT THIS TIME (we want to accommodate all the WINO's we
can first; then if
there's still space available as the deadline nears,
we'll notify you all by
e-mail that guest signups are open--at the full rate of
$61 each).
WINO's--your prorated charge for our Dec. 13th event is
$33 per person
Make payments made out to Rodrick M Arriaga, and mail to:
